ITD110 - Web Page Design I provides; (1) a critical overview of the basic principles of Web page design (Information, Interaction, and Presentation design); (2) creation of web pages using Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML) and Cascading Style Sheets; (3) hosting and maintaining a web-site. This course reviews the most of the material and concepts required for the CIW Site Development Associate Certification. Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week for 3 semester credits.

Course Objectives

Discuss the history of and identify markup language standards and the organizations that define them measured by examination.
Identify front end and back end Web page design issues measured by examination.
Define the concepts of creative design and branding standards measured by examination.
Demonstrate knowledge of Web site management principles measured by examination and creating/maintaining student website.
Use both a text editor and a GUI markup language editor to create XHTML pages and a semester website
Create XHTML pages with Web safe colors, hyperlinks, images, client side image maps, tables, frames and Web forms
Test processing of Web forms using a public test engine.
Validate HTML and XHTML code to W3C standards using validation tools.
Apply formatting styles to Web pages using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
Identify requirements for Web site publishing measured by examination.
Identify uses for client side and server side Web technologies and languages measured by examination.
Connect Web pages to databases.
Identify the benefits of Dynamic HTML (DHTML) and the Document Object Model (DOM) measured by examination.
Compare using a service provider to hosting your own Web server measured by examination and aåssignments
Compare e-commerce to traditional commerce, and identify e-commerce payment models measured by examination.
Identify issues related to working in a global environment measured by examination.
